Grape Harvesting in the Vineyards

Upon your arrival, join your private guide in wandering around the Quinta (estate) to take in the harvest buzz around you – vineyard workers tackling the tricky terrain to pick the fruit, hundreds of grape-filled crates entering the cellar and the smell of freshly pressed grape juice wafting through the air.  After a brief estate orientation, you’ll be led out into the vineyards to learn about the estate’s vines.  For a true harvest experience, you’ll get the opportunity to grab a pair of secateurs (shears) and join in on harvesting some of the grapes.

Grape Stomping Tradition

After your time in the vineyard, take a well-deserved lunch break.  Set at a perfect spot in the Douro Valley to admire the river and busy vineyards, indulge in a regional chef’s choice menu accompanied by award-winning wines.  Following your lunch, continue your wine adventure into a beautiful wine cave used for the storage and ageing of wine.  Take in the rich aromas of wine and oak while admiring stone-clad walls lined with hundreds of barrels.  Next up, spend your final hours taking part in a tradition that few get to experience – grape stomping.  Roll up your sleeves as you climb into gigantic granite tanks to stomp away the final moments of a magical wine tasting experience with a twist in Portugal’s Douro Valley.
