[Full day private tour] Discover the very best of both Stellenbosch and Franschhoek winelands with your local, expert, specialist wine guide as your experienced host and chaperone while you sip on some of the best examples of South Africas’ well-regarded wines. Learn about the rich history of winemaking and indulge in a selection of world class wine tasting experiences at beautiful estates selected for their quality, ambience, service, views and of course, top class wines. All this a mere 45 minutes away from Cape Town! This itinerary is flexible so if you have preferred estates you’d like to visit please feel free to ask for a bespoke itinerary.

Full Details

Start your day getting to know your professional wine specialist guide, selected to match the profile and the preferences of your group. He or she will share the history, heritage and background of the South African wine industry as well as their own relationship and experience in the industry (many of our guides are ex-winemakers, sommeliers, journalists or judges or interact with the industry with side projects like supplying barrels or corks).

You first stop is in the incredible Blaauwklippen Valley at one of Stellenbosch’s top wine estates, Waterford. With grand architecture, manicured gardens and cobbled pathways, the estate sets the tone for the amazing day ahead. Enjoy a superb wine tasting under the sunlit oak trees as you savour the beautiful setting.

Your next tasting in Stellenbosch is at a unique, boutique winery nestled in the dramatic Jonkershoek Valley. Taste beautiful hand-crafted wines from a small island overlooking a still pond that reflects the dramatic mountain range from above.

Next, enjoy award-winning estate wines from biologically grown grapes at the classically styled La Motte tasting room, while browsing an extensive selection of art, including famed SA artist, JH Pierneef’s heritage collection. Finish off with a stroll through the sculpture garden and admire the many works of art on display.

End the day with the local version of South African sparkling wine, Methode Cap Classique (MCC) perfectly paired with delicious canapés at a local producer within sight of the famous Huguenot Monument, a memorial to the French Huguenots that found their way to South Africa after fleeing persecution for their religious views in France.
