Wine Writer, Judge and Tour Leader
Following a career in financial services, Jonathan qualified as a winemaker and after some international vintages joined International Wine Services, making Cape wines for the UK market where he also advised Bibendum Wine Ltd and WaverleyTBS. After 2 years on the European Master of Wine programme Jonathan now consults, judges and tutors, is a freelance wine writer and leads wine tasting tours of the Cape.
Many consider the combination of power and elegance as the holy grail of winemaking. With too many wines made to impress wine competition judges, where the standout wine can be challenging to drink beyond a few sips, wines of elegance and restraint can be hard to find as are wines with seamless integration. These are some of the wineries who come out tops for sheer drinkability – with one or two from left of field.
*Some of these producers use the facilities of bigger wineries and are therefore not found on the app. To purchase wines from these producers please contact them directly.
