PROVA Wine Food & Pleasure

Prova wine bar showcases an excellent, carefully curated selection of wines from all over Portugal (with a few special international choices too) as well as some great snack choices for pairing. Its central location makes it easy for you to pop in on your night out in Porto. Owner, Diogo, and his right hand man, João, are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all things wine. So, be sure to ask them for some recommendations of which wines to try, and don’t be shy to visit the wine wall at the back for further inspiration. Be warned that the vibey, yet relaxed atmosphere might have you spending a good few hours in this wine bar, especially if you’re around for the jazz night – every last Thursday of the month.

Capela Incomum

A unique and interesting venue for a wine bar that will definitely give you a good story to tell! The name translates to “uncommon chapel”. Sound curious? Yes! That’s because it’s actually located in an ancient 19th century chapel. The altar can still be seen when visiting the wine bar today. If you are looking for a date night idea or a laid-back place to get together with a small group of friends, then this is the spot for you. Enjoy one of their delicious sharing plates while you sip away on a local Portuguese wine.

Gota a Gota – Wine House

While Gota a Gota is not a “bar” so to speak, it definitely deserves a special mention on the list of the top wine bars in Porto. This is a wine shop showcasing the best of what Portugal has to offer and has a casual space where you can do some wine tasting. The space is owned by a couple who are actively involved in the shop; they are friendly, clued-up and will gladly have a chat with you and help you pick out something special to buy or taste. The location is off the main pedestrian path – away from the crowds of tourists – but is also in a vibrant neighbourhood filled with many interesting restaurants. This makes Gota a Gota the perfect place to enjoy a pre-dinner or lunch drink.

The ambience of the wine bar also lends itself to be a great place to visit if you are searching for something to do on a rainy day in Porto.
